Info & Frequently Asked Questions

Grand Lake Wedding Photographer

What kind of camera do you use?
I use a Nikon D300, which is a Pro-Level DSLR with a 12.3 Megapixel CMOS Digital Sensor.

What format do you record images in?
I record all images in RAW format, which allows the highest quality of colors available with the D300.

Why are your prices so inexpensive compared to Denver wedding photographers?
I am able to keep my pricing low because I operate out of my home. This means that I don't have the overhead costs that you see in most studios or with most portrait/wedding photographers. I also try to limit the advertising I do to local advertising with minimum bridal showcases attendance.

How many pictures will you photograph in one hour?
It depends, but typically around 75-100 in one hour.

Will I need to order dinner for the photographer?
If the event is under 6 hours, then no. If it is 6 hour or more, we would prefer that you do.

Who will be photographing my wedding?
Rachel owns and operates all of Stellar Photography. She will always be the photographer, unless an emergency arises, then she has several photographers that she will contact to fill in. Don't worry, they have all been compared equally to her work.

With the online viewing & ordering offered through Pictage, is there any obligation to
purchase before being able to view the images?

No. There is never any obligation to purchase outside of your wedding package price.

What methods of payment do you accept?
We accept Visa, Mastercard & Discover through Pictage Payment Processing. We also accept Personal Checks.

Do I get to choose the photos for my photo album?
Yes. For all prints and albums, you will get to choose the images you want; you must have your selections to the photographer no later than 3 months after you receive your disc of images or proof set.

How long does it take to receive my proof book, dvd or album?
Typically it will take about two weeks before you will receive your DVD of images and about 3-6 weeks (after you make your selections) to receive your album or proof set.

Will Stellar Photography use pictures of my wedding in any marketing material?
Possibly. Since Stellar Photography will own the copyright for all of the images produced on your wedding day, we may use it for our website, brochures, reprints, or even entering them in to contests.

Will I receive touch ups or black and white conversions with my DVD of images?
Yes. All packages include extensive post production, including color correction, black and white conversions, sepia toning, and even artistic border designs touch ups and cropping according to what the photographer deems is artistic or aesthetically pleasing.

Will you travel outside of Colorado or the United States?
Yes, anywhere! Contact us for a personalized travel quote.

Will we need a second photographer for the wedding?
Maybe, if you have over 100-150 guests attending, it is recommended that you inquire about a second photographer. The prices range depending on the photographer we hire. It is also recommended if you have different activities happening at the same time (ie, Formal Portraits & Cocktail hour).

Can you help me with my timeline to make sure I have booked you for enough hours?
Definitely! Here are a few pointers... Most weddings will have an average of 75-100 guests and this timeline is based on that:

Getting Ready - about 1 hour
Before Formal Portraits (Separated or Together) - about 1 hour
Before Ceremony - about 30 minutes
Ceremony - about 30 minutes
Cocktail Hour/Formal Portraits (Together) - about 1 hour
Dinner/Toasts - about 2 hours
Cake/Dancing - about 2 hours

This is what I consider "Full Coverage" and is about 8 hours.

It is always a good idea to have your caterer set up a "Cocktail Hour" in which your guests have access to food & the bar - this is a GREAT time to do your combined family & bridal party portraits.

If you have a large family, or if you don't want to spend the entire cocktail hour taking photos, I recommend to set up a time to do some "Before Formal Portraits". You can use this time one of two ways - either separated (if the bride & groom don't want to see each other before the ceremony) in which the bride, her immediate family and bridesmaids will have photos taken for about half an hour & then the groom, his immediate family and groomsmen for the other half -- or, you can have combined "Before Formal Portraits" (if the bride & groom don't mind seeing each other before) in which the bride, groom, family on both sides and entire bridal party will have photos taken for the hour.

How do I access the photos from the wedding online?
To access the images, please go to www.pictage.com and type in the bride & groom's name and weddng date. Once you've found your wedding, create a user name and password with Pictage and you should be allowed to view the photos. If the photos haven't been posted by the photographer yet, Pictage will send you an email as soon as they are availalbe to the public. Please contact us if you are not able to access or view the photos.
